7 Days In The Thick
NaBloPoMo
I am seven days into my NaBloPoMo Challenge and I can say that it has already helped me improve as a writer.
NaBloPoMo is short for National Blog Posting Month. It is an alternate version of the popular NaNoWriMo which is National Novel Writing Month.
In the novel writing versions you commit to penning a novel of at least 50000 words in the month of November. If you are participating in NaBloPoMo, you aim to produce one blog post for every day of the month.
I have thought of participating in NaNoWriMo before but I have never managed to get started. I learned of NaBloPoMo and I jumped right into thick things and have learned a lot along the way so far.
I have received some constructive criticism which I really appreciated and I hope to receive a lot more of the same so that I constantly improve. I also have been posting my efforts on BlogHer and just yesterday one of my blog posts made it to their featured page.
I was shocked and awed and my mouth literally fell open when I realised that. I had a feeling settle in my spirit that I had managed to live out what I was beginning to realise was my life's purpose.
I had written something and it had been recognised by someone else and read by many people. I am grinning as I think about it now. I doubt the editors of BlogHer have any idea how much they impacted my life but I feel thankful for boost to my self confidence.
No-Buy November
My No-Buy challenge is also going well. It is amazing though how much little temptation crop up in a day while I am at work or in town. I am analysing the trigger for these without trying to change anything right now. Looking at myself and my urges from the a little vantage point has been giving me a lot of food for thought.
Other News
Just yesterday I got my new pack of Sharpies that i purchased last month and sorted which colours were new and put away the rest that I already have. I ended up with 13 new colours! Yippee. I excited at all the possibilities and looking forward to my next doodling or poster making session.
I am going to try my hand at roasting some pumpkin seeds today. They are one of my favourite snacks but are often quite expensive. Wish me luck!
